Fiery but assured, Matano eyes top-five finish at troubled Tusker

Newly installed Tusker FC tactician Robert Matano has earmarked a top-five finish as his top target this term, moments after he was officially unveiled at the club’s headquarters in Ruaraka on Tuesday.

Matano who succeeds axed Ugandan Sam Timbe also said that he will work hard to ensure the reputation of the club is restored.

“I have never coached a team in the top position but instead it’s me who take them up there,” he said. “Where Tusker is at the moment is where AFC Leopards were last year and I managed to help them earn atop-eight place and also win the GOtv-Shield.

“I am used to this kind of situation. I want to ensure that Tusker will finish not below number five in the League,” Matano hitherto known for his uncompromising approach to coaching said.

Matano will be assisted by Charles Okere who will also coach the Tusker under-20 team.

“It’s my pleasure to work with an experienced coach who will be guiding me in our training session and in nurturing the under-20 team so that we build better future for Tusker,” Okere said.

The duo will begin their duties at the du-out tomorrow when Tusker lock horns with Wazito FC at Camp Toyoyo.

Tuskers lie just above the relegation zone at position 15 in the 18-team KPL table and have only won once in their last five outings.
