Kayole Starlets head coach Joshua Sakwa has decried the financial constraints as a key factor hindering their performance in the Kenyan Women Premier League.

Starlets are currently placed at the tail end of the league with two points after playing 10 matches.

Speaking to Citizen Digital,Sakwa said they were supposed to receive Sh.750, 000 from FKF as part of their annual grant to help pay the players’ salaries but are yet to receive the funds.

“It’s sad to see my club lying in the relegation zone; all this is because of lack of money. Sometimes my players are forced to dig deep into their pockets to honor away assignments, this is really affecting us,”he decried.

Due to the biting financial situation, Sakwa said he was forced to release eight players who decamped to Zetech University because the club couldn’t afford to pay their salaries.

Those released included Laveda Atieno, Ann Wathare, and Caroline Mweli.

Others are Sylvia Rasoa and Faith Atieno Omondi.

The coach has in the meantime called on well wishers and companies to assist them in reducing the financial  burden.

“I believe there is room for improvement if we get a sponsor, my aim is to move out of relegation threat something which I believe is possible. I call upon anyone who could assist us and believe me Kayole Starlets will never be the same again.”

Gaspo youth are currently on the summit of the league with 33 points having played 11 matches, six points above second and third placed Vihiga Queens and Trans Nzoia Falcons consecutively.
