Fit again Yego to resume training on Wednesday

Olympics silver medallist and world Javelin champion, Julius Yego will resume training on Wednesday after being discharged from hospital following his horrific accident on Sunday night.

Writing to his fans on Facebook on Tuesday, Yego said he would resume his sporting career as usual following his near brush with death when his Sports Utility Vehicle was written off after it crashed into a trailer in Eldoret.

“Good morning everyone this is a new day that God has given unto us bright shinny sunny day, am good and jovial and healthy and strong, once again I want to say thank you and be bless for the continued messages of support and encouragement.

“I love you all and will continue with sports career as usual, my training will go on from Kesho (tomorrow) because am okay and the doctor gave me an okay! Lovely day,” the 2014 Commonwealth and two-time African champion said in a post that quickly gathered over 200 comments besides being shared widely.

Speaking after being discharged from Eldoret’s Mediheal Hospital on Monday, Yego broke down in tears while addressing reporters following the crash.

“I’ve never been that scared but I thank God that I’m still alive and strong. After the incident I came out of the car and at first I’d broken my leg but as I stepped out I felt that I was okay.

“After that many people came but it’s the first people that brought me here at the hospital; they were really good Samaritans. My colleague Asbel Kiprop was also there and we came here with him and when we got here I was quickly attended to,” he said.

Yego, told journalists that the accident happened too fast and he initially feared he was seriously hurt.

“Almighty God is good. You guys if you can see the wreckage of my car, you won’t believe I was inside that car. Have just used the car for only one week, Mungu anaokoa kweli (God really saves),” the shaken star added.

Olympic champions, Eliud Kipchoge, Ezekiel Kemboi and Kiprop were joined by other top athletes such as Augustine Choge and Bernard Kipyego in visiting Yego in hospital.

According to Dr. Florencious Koech, a neurosurgeon at the hospital his life is out of danger.

“I can say is well now, he just sustained soft tissue injuries following the accident” said Dr Koech.

He added the YouTubeMan who posted photos at his home posing with a friend sustained minor bruises on his neck, chest and legs but there is no serious injuries and is in stable condition.
