FKF cleared Oketch to play for Gor on Tuesday

Baron Jobita Oketch was cleared to play for Gor Mahia by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Tuesday according to the list of completed June window transfers released this morning.

According to FKF, Oketch who featured for K’Ogalo in their 2-0 KPL Top 8 victory over league leaders Tusker switched from Western Stima on a Ksh300,000 deal.

Tusker are reported to have appealed against the result that saw Gor with one foot in the final after the first leg on Sunday on the grounds Jobita was not illegible to play for the league champions.

Kenya Premier League CEO Jack Oguda termed Tusker’s FC appeal against Gor as null and void

“We had already cleared Brian Oketch. He had been registered under Gor Mahia, and the Federation only remained with issuing him with a license number,” the league management boss said.

“Tusker’s appeal is null and void since Gor had already brought all the documentation to KPL before that match,” Oguda added.

Oketch who featured in the second half switched from Western Stima on a Ksh300,000 deal and  signed a two year deal with the 15 times Champions

The teams will play the second leg on Sunday at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium with the winner facing either Ulinzi Stars or Muhoroni Youth who drew 0-0 in the first leg.

At the same time, FKF has provisionally registered Brazilian Thiago Lima da Silva who signed for K’Ogalo for Macau awaiting submission of work permit.

Uganda’s Andrew Sekayombya who moved from Posta Rangers FC to Muhoroni Youth and Ghanaian Baron Edzeameh who has joined National Super League strugglers, Ligi Ndogo also need to produce their work documents to play in the country.

FKF has thus far approved 21 transfers with 18 days left for the window to shut with two cancellations.

The move of former KPL Footballer of the Year, Kevin Kimani’s from Tusker FC to relegated Premier Soccer League side, Jomo Cosmos FC of South Africa has fallen through by mutual consent while world body FIFA rejected the proposed transfer of female footballer, Joe Wanjiku Kimani from Umeme Sports FC to FC Iberia on grounds she is a minor who cannot enter a professional contract.
