FKF directs Bandari to withdraw their youth team from non-sanctioned leagues

Bandari FC have been directed by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to align their youth team with the country’s league structures in order not to jeopardise their chances of participating in FKF competitions.

According to FKF Coast National Executive Committee member Gabriel Mghendi, the Mombasa based side is participating in unsanctioned leagues unlike their counterparts, warning it could jeopardise the chances of their players featuring for the national youth teams or others league under FKF.

“They have to participate in FKF leagues or we will not have any business with their youths anywhere in the country,”  Mghendi warned.

He added, “If you look at AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia and many Premier League teams, they have their youth teams in FKF leagues so why not them?”

Bandari youth coach Swaleh Abdallah Sunda confirmed receipt of the FKF directive noting that plans are underway to switch to FKF Mombasa County League.

“The management has already agreed that we switch and as a coach I have no objective on the move,” explained Sunda.

The Junior Dockers have been actively participating in the Mombasa County Football Association League, a splinter group from FKF.

Mombasa County have three running football leagues which came as a result of the last elections with Alamin Ahmed who won the election before the Appeals Committee overturned his victory running a parallel league.

The FKF Mombasa County League had also kicked off with Mombasa County Football Association organizing another local league, throwing the spanners in the works.
