FKF postpones three WPL matches

The clash between Women Premier League (WPL) champions Vihiga Queens and Trans Nzoia Queens which had been scheduled for this weekend has been postponed to a later date.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) granted Vihiga’s request to have the tie postponed since seven of its key players are away on international duty with the Harambee Starlets.

The Starlets are in Zambia ahead of Sunday’s friendly match at the Athur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, as part of the team’s preparation for their 2018 AWCON qualifiers against Uganda on April 4.

Vihiga players Vivian Mkhoha, Lilian Adera, Corazone Acquino, Cynthia Shilwatso and Phoebe Oketch made it to final squad of 20 led by head coach Richard Kanyi although Terry Engesha and Euphresia Afwayi were dropped for different reasons.

According to Vihiga Queens head coach Alex Alumira, Engesha had a KNEC examination while Afwayi failed to impress after the three-week Starlets camp in Machakos.

Former champions Mathare Women United and current league leaders Thika Queens were also forced to push forward their upcoming fixtures for the same reason.
