For Yema Mwana, winning the golden boot is the ultimate goal

For Bandari’s Congolese import Yema Mwana, winning the 2020/2021 FKF-Premier League golden boot is the ultimate target.

Since docking at Bandari, Mwana has been a mainstay at the club, and he showcased his usefulness to the team at the weekend when he found the back of the net in the 4-3 thrilling win over visiting Kakamega Homeboyz.

The weekend heroics took Bandari up the table to position six on the 18-team league table on 12 points, resulting from three wins, an equal number of draws and two defeats.

And as the Dockers aim to get their groove back, Mwana hopes he’ll play a key role to it by scoring many goals to claim the individual gong.

However, to attain this goal he’ll be have to be ice cold in front of goal. So far Kariobangi Sharks’ Eric Kapaito leads the golden boot chase on 11 goals, followed closely by AFC Leopards’ man Elvis Rupiah on eight.

“I am happy for the fact that I have rediscovered my scoring form and at the same time I am disappointed because by now I should be having eight or nine goals but I have scored only three,” he reflected in a conversation with Citizen Digital.

“I remember last season before coronavirus interrupted the league I had 11 goals but now I want to score in every match even if we win or lose. My target is to be among the top three scorers when the league comes to an end. I believe in myself and that is why I haven’t scored penalty goals, all of them are out of my own individual brilliance,” he said.

The next fixture for the Coast based club will be against Mathare United this Friday before hosting Gor Mahia a week later.
