Four athletes among them 2019 Rotterdam Marathon silver medalist Stella Barsosio sustained injuries after they were knocked down by a vehicle while on training along Kapsabet-Olessos road Wednesday.

Others who were involved in the morning incident are Stella Barsosio alongside her husband Edwin Melly, Hillary Bett and Amos Bomori.

The athletes were rushed to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital shortly after the accident and were treated and discharged. The early incident left athletes with head, waist, legs and shoulder injuries.

Several athletes and coaches flocked the hospital as a sign of solidarity with their colleagues.

Confirming the incident on phone, Nandi county police commander Thoma Ngeiywo said that the owner of the vehicle has already recorded a statement at Kapsabet police station. Ngeiwyo further revealed that vehicle has also been detained.

The athletes were preparing for various races including Valencia, Hungary and France road races which were slated to take place next week.
