Free entry to Kasarani for Starlets, Zambia clash

In a bid to have fans throng the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Friday when the national women’s team, Harambee Starlets, take on Zambia’s Copper Queens in a Olympic qualifier match, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has gone ahead to waive all the gate charges for the tie.

In a tweet, FKF announced that attending fans will not be required to pay any cash before accessing the stadium as the governing body rallies fans to turn up in their record numbers to cheer the girls to victory at the match set to kick off at 4pm.

Starlets will be looking to gain an advantage in the first leg as they seek qualification to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The return leg will be played in Lusaka in November 11.

The David Ouma coached charges reached this stage after eliminating Black Queens of Ghana on a 1-0 goal aggregate, thanks to an extra time goal from Gentrix Shikagwa while Copper Queens advanced after edging Botswana on 3-0 aggregate.

The winner of the two-legged fourth round will meet either Ivory Coast or Cameroon in the fifth and final round of qualification.

Friday last week, Ouma named his provisional squad of 24 players largely featuring top guns who were instrumental in Starlets’ win over Ghana in the third round.

Meanwhile, Ugandan referee Shamirah Nabaddah will take charge of the match assisted by her compatriots Jane Mutonyi as the First Assistant Referee, Nakitto Nkumbi as the Second Assistant Referee and Florence Ayaro as the Fourth Official.

Aline Bitagoye from Burundi will serve as the Match Commissioner while Agar Mezing from Cameroon will serve as the Referee Assessor during the match.
