Fuming Bandari coach Mwalala blames referee for Sofapaka defeat

Bandari head coach Bernard Mwalala has blamed poor officiating for their 2-1 loss in the hands of Sofapaka.

Speaking after witnessing his side go down for the first time this season in Kenyan Premier League, Mwalala questioned the level of officiating in the top tier league saying it contributed to their defeat.

“The league has got no sponsor and things like this will dent the credibility of our league,” lamented Mwalala in reference to the calls by match centre referee.

At the same time, the former Kenya international has urged the Kenya Premier League to take action against ‘poor referees’ to restore their confidence in the competition.

On his part, Sofapaka coach Divaldo Alves was delighted with the victory ahead of the international break.

The weekend victory was a morale boost after they were beaten by Tusker at the same stadium in their last game.

“A team like Sofapaka must fight for three points because we want to be champions. The team played together and that’s why we have won,”Alves said.

Brian Nyakan scored the winning goal to earn the Batoto ba Mungu the victory, the victory stretching their points tally to 7 from five games.
