Women Premier League side Gaspo FC will unveil their six new players on Sunday.

Head coach Isaac Maluki told Citizen Digital the new faces include lethal striker Mercy Airo. Airo, signed from Kisumu Starlets, has been an important cog in the national set-up Harambee Starlets.

Others are; Laventine Khaemba (Kisumu Starlets), Stellah Liseche (Kibera Girls), Diana Wacera, Rhoda Wafula (Ibinzo Girls School), and Shajani Unizer who formerly featured for English second tier side Barnsley United.

Wacera is making a return to the team after a loan spell at Mathare United women side.

Maluki is at the same time chuffed at the signing of Shajani noting that many clubs were after her signature.

“It is a good thing having her in the team. She is an experienced player having played in the English second tier league and I believe her inclusion in the team will boost the morale of the girls,’’ he explained.

The new talents will be unveiled on Sunday at their home turf Ruiru before facing Kayole Starlets.

Gaspo will be aiming to bounce back to winning ways after losing 2-1 to Thika Queens in their last match.

“Kayole is a very tough side, they have played two matches compared to us but I believe the new signings will help bag the three points. Our aim is to win the title with a big margin.”

At the same time the league resumes this weekend after the Christmas break. At the Mumias Sports Complex defending champions Vihiga Queens will play Oserian ladies as Ulinzi Starlets entertain Kibera Girls.
