Head coach Hyford Basir blasted critics following the latest round of gender scrutiny directed at the Ghana women’s national team.

As has been the insensitivity shown towards most female African footballers, the Black Queens were not spared in Cape Coast over their supposed masculinity.

A livid Basir invited doubters to conduct sex tests as he told off critics ahead of their decisive final Africa Women Cup of Nations group match on Friday.

“I’m always angered when fans and even rival players ask these kind of things. To ask why players look like men because of their physicality is wrong. We are preparing for our final group match and won’t be unsettled by this.

“Anyone who may doubt their gender then can take them to the lab and make his her own test to determine the truth of things,” Heyford charged.

Ghana face a must-win clash against Pool A leaders Cameroon at the Cape Coast Stadium where they will seek to nail a place in the AWCON semi-finals.

Whether they qualify will also be determined by the result of the match between second-placed Mali and Algeria who are bottom of the group having lost both of their opening fixtures.

Cameroon have already qualified for the last four but will not be easing their feet on the gas just yet as they will be aiming to finish top of the group in order to avoid Group B leaders South Africa who are in rampaging form.
