Gor Mahia have beefed up their CAF- Confederations squad roping in new signing Dennis Oliech, Nicholas Kipkirui and defender Geoffrey Ochieng.
The trio was not registered for the CAF Confederations preliminary matches thus playing no role in the double header against New Star de Doula.
With their registration, they are expected to feature prominently on Sunday as Gor Mahai begin their Caf Confederation group stage journey against Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Club boss Rachier said that the addition of the trio should add strength to the squad.
Meanwhile, Ivorian Ephrem Guikan has been dropped from the CAF squad. According to Rachier, the Ivorian has requested to leave the club hence the decision.
“Guikan has written to us requesting to be released saying he is interested in joining another club. We are in talks and will release him and that’s why we have left his name out of Caf list,’’said Rachier.
Guikan alongside Kenneth Miuguna, were left out of the squad that travelled to Dar es Salaam to participate in the Super Cup tournament but Rachier insists the decision was not based on disciplinary issues.
According to Rachier, it is the duty of the coach to select players he deems fit for any assignment and that could have occasioned them being dropped from the squad.
Guikan has of late had issues with the club protesting a substitution in the club’s league game against Mount Kenya United when Oliech was brought on as his replacement in the 42nd minute
Gor Mahia face Zamalek in their first group stage match this Sunday February 3 at Kasarani beginning 3pm and fly out a week later to face Angola’s Petro Atletico in Group D match.
K’Ogalo qualified for the group stage after trouncing Cameroon’s New Star de Douala 2-1 on aggregate in a two-leg playoff.
