Gor certain coach Kerr going nowhere

Gor Mahia FC assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala is confident Head Coach Dylan Kerr is at the club to stay.

Ngala said the Englishman, who has enjoyed a barnstorming debut season with Gor, has assured the club he will see out his two-year contract with the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions before possibly negotiating a fresh deal.

“The fact that he has won the league makes us, and everyone, want to be associated with him. He’s given us his word and we believe he will honour it,” the official told Citizen Digital.

Kerr who replaced Jose Marcelo ‘Ze Maria’ Ferreira as Head Coach in June has won the K’Ogalo faithful hearts with his attractive yet efficient approach to football that led Gor to a record 16th KPL title.

“He has already started planning for next season that is further confirmation that he will stay with us,” Ngala said.

K’Ogalo will officially be handed their 2017 KPL trophy on the last day of the season, November 18, when they play Sony Sugar at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu where they enjoy enormous support.

“We haven’t planned anything special like we had in 2014 but as time goes by we will see what will come up. The 2014 season was special because we had waited for the title for 18 years,” he added.

The Green Army will represent the country in next year’s CAF Champions League with the official saying plans are already underway to ensure they advance past the group stage.

“We are trying to make the squad intact, and then depending on the recommendation of the coach we will look at which areas we will beef up,” he underscored.

Gor last reached the quarter finals in 1993 something and Ngala believes it is a feat they can easily replicate should they bolster their squad enough ahead of the preliminary round of the continental competition which starts in February.
