Gor defender Onyango set for Simba switch

Gor Mahia FC defender Joash Onyango is on the verge of completing a lucrative move to Simba SC after agreeing personal terms with the Tanzanian champions.

Onyango, who joined Gor in 2017 from Western Stima, has been offered a two-year deal and will join former teammates Francis Kahata and Meddie Kagere who moved to the club last year.

He was owed salary arrears by Gor and put in a demand letter to them that went unanswered. He then served notice as is required and commenced negotiations with Simba who have always been interested in his services.

Simba moved with speed to secure his services and the player is expected in Dar es Salaam to sign the deal.

Simba won the league title, Domestic Cup and the Azam Federation Cup and want to make a mark in the CAF Champions League next season.

Onyango has been integral to Gor’s domestic domination and won the coveted Kenyan Premier League Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Gor recently lost goalkeeper David Mapigano to Tanzanian moneybags Azam FC while the duo of speedy forward Boniface Omondi and custodian Peter Odhiambo has joined Wazito.
