Gor hitman Tuyisenge nearing Simba switch

Gor Mahia FC striker Jacques Tuyisenge is on the verge of completing a move to Simbas SC in a deal that could reunite him with his Rwandese counterpart Meddie Kagere.

Simba joined Congolese club AS Vita in the race to sign Tuyisenge last week and have emerged as his likeliest destination with reports claiming a pre-agreement has been signed.

Gor head coach Hassan Oktay Hassan Oktay issued the likeliest indication yet that he could lose his top marksman when he suggested the player had asked for time away from the squad.

Tuyisenge, who had been with on international duty with the Rwandan national team, was absent from Gor’s squad that defeated Zoo FC 4-0 on Wednesday at the Kericho Green Stadium.

“He is such a great player and such a great professional. I want to progress but the same time I want to keep him. It’s very difficult to keep him now because he is one of the best strikers; six or seven teams in Europe want him!” Oktay offered.

In Tuyisenge’s absence, Dennis Oliech stepped up to score two goals with Kenneth Muguna and Nicholas Kipkirui contributing one apiece during Gor’s 4-0 victory at Zoo which moved them into second on the KPL standings.

Tuyisenge has been used mostly in continental assignments and the 27-year-old has been central to the club’s historic CAF Confederation Cup run, scoring vital goals including the winner over Petro Atletico on March 17 in a 1-0 victory that sealed the club’s place in the quarter-finals.

He became Gor’s most expensive signing when he moved from Rwanda’s Police FC in a club-record KSh4 million in 2016.
