Gor jolted as Kagere nears Simba deal

Gor Mahia’s camp has been jolted following reports that their lead talisman Meddie Kagere is on the brink of joining Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC.

Kagere has been one of the stalwarts in a fluent Gor machine that has been scoring at will, impressing domestically and also on the continental front, featuring prominently as the Kenyan glamour club cruised to the group stages of the Caf- Confederation Cup.

According to reports, Kagere is in Dar es Salaam to negotiate terms with the Tanzanian outfit who have been particularly keen on signing him, moreso after his heroics in the Super Cup where he starred as K’Ogalo retained the title.

In the meantime, Gor’s deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala has accused the striker of betrayal.

He said : “Kagere told us that he was headed to Rwanda to renew his passport only to end up landing in Tanzania. We are aware that he is in talks with Simba and that is what most players do.”

Citizen Digital  has reliably learnt that the 30-year old is a free agent and his move o Simba could be hastened as he the two clubs do not  have to negotiate a transfer fee.

Citizen has also gathered that Simba has offered the Rwandan a better deal, doubling his salary, a move that could have turned his head.

Should the move materliase, it will hit Gor hard as they are poised to fly out on Saturday to Dar es Salaam to compete in this year’s edition of the Cecafa Club Championship. It could also force Gor to navigate the tricky Caf assignments as well as fight for the league defence without his services.

In the meantime, Gor will this afternoon seek to extend their lead at the summit of the league table to 12 points when they tackle the hot and cold blowing Posta Rangers at the Kisumu County Stadium.

K’Ogalo went nine points clear at the weekend after beating Ulinzi Stars 2-0 at the Afraha Stadium and another win will see them open a healthy lead as they race to retain the gong.
