Kenyan champions Gor Mahia FC finally landed in Algiers this afternoon following a 12-hour flight from Nairobi to the Algerian capital via Doha, Qatar.

Gor have been on the end of a series of challenges highlighted by the unavailability of commercial flights to the Northern country where they are due to play CR Belouizdad in a rescheduled CAF Champions League contest.

The two will clash on Saturday at 10.45pm (EAT), three days after the planned date.

Speking to Citizen Digital, Team Manager Jolawi Obondo appreciated the journey despite the long hours of travel.

“Though it was long, we’ve had the best journey so far. Much improved service from Qatar Airways. The stop-over was less than two hours in Doha. The boys are upbeat and we will take some rest before having a feel of the pitch later, probably the same time the match will be played tomorrow,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Gor’s assistant Captain Philemon Otieno who will be leading the team in the absence of injured skipper Kenneth Muguna.

“The journey has been okay and we thank God for that. We are all fine and the mood is good… we are ready to give our best tomorrow.”

Gor advanced to the First Round of the premier continental competition after defeating Rwanda’s APR 4-3 on aggregate.
