Gor Mahia accept KSh500,000 CAF fine

Gor Mahia FC deputy Secretary General Ronald Ngala has said the club will not appeal the KSh500,000 fine imposed on the club by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The continental governing body’s disciplinary board slapped Gor with the fine over ‘unsporting fan behaviour’ during their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Rayon Sports on August 19.

A letter stating the reason for the fine and amount was sent to Gor on Tueday evening with the window for an appeal being given by the Disciplinary Hearing of the Association’s Board Members.

“In the meeting held in Caf Headquaters in Cairo, Egypt on 8th September, the board examined all documents… the officials indicated in their reports that: “the spectators were good until the second goal of Rayon Sport, when they – Gor Mahia’s supporters threw bottles and other objects at the players,” the letter stated in part.

The club was given three days to appeal the decision, but Ngala confirmed that they have opted not to initiate that option.

“We will not appeal the for the fine because the incidences were so clear and captured on television. CAF are very strict when it comes to dealing with acts of hooliganism so as a club we will have to organize on how to pay the fine,” Ngala said.

K’Ogalo had impressive run in the Confederation Cup, narrowly missing out on a place in the quarter-finals after losing 2-1 to USM Algers in Algeria in the last round of group matches.
