Gor Mahia crowned 2015 Kenya Premier League champions

Gor Mahia have been crowned 2015 Kenya Premier League champions, in a stellar campaign that saw them finish the season unbeaten.

The coronation ceremony took place after the final match against Muhoroni which they won 2-0 courtesy of goals from Ali Hassan Abondo and Michael Olunga.

Olunga’s goal puts his tally at 19 this season behind Tusker’s Jesse Were who has 22 goals.

Despite the financial troubles attributed to lack of shirt sponsor, Kogalo overcame all odds to soldier on and win the league, for the third consecutive season meaning that they will get to keep the trophy.

Ulinzi Stars finished second with 58 points while Sofapaka finished third with 47 points.

In other matches played today, AFC Leopards lost 3-1 to Tusker FC, Sofapaka beat Thika United 2-1, Nakuru AllStars drew 0-0 with Ushuru FC while Nairobi City Stars drew 1-1 with Sony Sugar.

Chemilil Sugar drew 1-1 with Mathare, Western Stima drew 1-1 with KCB, Ulinzi Stars drew 0-0 Bandari.

The results mean Western Stima, Thika United, Chemilil Sugar, City Stars, KCB and Nakuru AllStars occupy the last six positions.
