Gor Mahia in three day talent search

SportsPesa Premier League champions Gor Mahia are conducting a three-day Trial at Nairobi’s Makongeni Sports Ground open to boys Under 21 in a bid to unearth fresh local talent for their youth side.

K’Ogalo are targetting to enlist 30 prospects at the end of the exercise who will be invited to train with the record 15-time domestic league champions as part of their youth set up.

Around 90 boys who reported for the opening day were taken through drills as youth coaches at the club sought to identify their best positions of play.

“What is happening here today is that we are conducting a three-day trial to recruit some young boys to join our youth team.

“It is our intention to have an Under 21 team playing in the national first division and the same time have 18 year-olds who will participate in the Under 19 SportsPesa Premier League tournament in August,” former Gor secretary general, Chris Omondi who is a member of the management committee of K’Ogalo’s youth team stated.

Omondi added those who excel have a change to join the senior side or other Kenya Premier League teams.

“We already have some boys in place, so they will have to fight for their place in the team. We are beefing up the team in readiness for the two tournaments and we are privileged that this season, we have three boys who joined the senior team,” Omondi told Citizen.

“We are here to try our luck as Gor Mahia has set the Under 21 trials. My expectations is that I will get the opportunity to play football and finally achieve my dreams,” one of the trialists said.
