Gor Mahia set to unveil new coach

Kenya Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia FC is set to appoint their new head coach by the end of the day Wednesday July 5th 2017.

According to the clubs Organizing Secretary Ronald Ngala, they have narrowed the number of coaches to three who are set to face off in the last phase of the interviews.

“We will be finalizing today (Wednesday July 5th. We had more than 12 candidates but we have narrowed in on three,” said Ngala.

While refuting claims that they had settled on Scottish Dylann Kerr, he also revealed that all the three candidates are foreigners.

“Although I don’t know the names of the other two very well, I know there is an Italian, a Scottish and the other one is Dutch,” added Ngala.

Ngala defended the club’s policy of recruiting foreign coaches citing that local coaches are overwhelmed by the pressure of the game.

“Our local coaches are good but sometimes they can’t handle the pressure and that’s what makes us look for coaches abroad,” remarked Ngala.

The 15 times KPL Champions have been under Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno as the interim head coach after the resignation of Jose Marcelo Ferreira on 15th June.

Gor currently sit on top of the KPL log with 28 points joint with defending champions Tusker FC but with superior goal difference.
