Gor official Sally Bolo puts FKF candidacy on hold

Gor Mahia FC treasurer Sally Bolo has opted to put her intention to vie as NEC Women Representative on pause amid on ongoing case involving Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

In the case filed at the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT), FKF is seeking to compel the Sports Registrar to allow it conduct elections as per its constitution, and not the Sports Act.

The pre-election period has been riddled in controversy and the polls were last year nullified by the SDT but ruled that the current regime remain in office until elections are held.

According to Bolo, the disputes surrounding the election ‘do not bode well for football and rob the sport of a much needed tranquil aura to thrive’.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for the support and encouragement you have accorded me ever since I declared my intention to vie for the seat of NEC Women Representative in FKF National election.

“However, in view of the protracted and injurious ligations surrounding these polls, I wish to refrain from presenting my nominations papers for the current round. This decision is premised on a firm belief that for meaningful change and progress to be realized in football, all stakeholders must pull in one direction.

“I hold the opinion that a clear roadmap should be established paving way for a controversy- free election after the current legal impulse is sorted,” Bolo said.

The Gor official was set to contest alongside Kerubo Momanyi and Margaret Omondi but has insisted she will hold on to her nomination papers until the issues are resolved.

“My hope and belief is that amicable ending to the dispute surrounding these elections will be arrived at and football will win in the end.”
