Gor part ways with coach Pollack

Steve Pollack has left his role as Gor Mahia FC head coach after a mutual agreement to terminate his contract due to the financial crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, both parties said on Friday.

The announcement comes only weeks after the English-Finnish had traveled to his native Finland for ‘holiday’ with football activities remaining suspended in the country.

Albeit under different circumstances, the manner of his exit is a mirroring reminder of that of his predecessor Hassan Oktay who resigned days after requesting the club to return home on compassionate leave.

Pollack joined Gor in August 2019 on a two-year contract after leaving his post as head coach of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko FC, winning his first trophy within just 10 days in charge when the Kenyan champions edged Bandari 1-0 in the Super Cup.

A Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title will also count on his CV after Gor were declared champions under his reign during the season that was interrupted by the pandemic.
