Gor say Chiefs will pay up Walusimbi transfer balance

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia FC will receive their due balance from the sale of Godfrey Walusimbi to Kaizer Chiefs despite his exit from the South African club.

Chiefs announced they had parted ways with Walusimbi on Thursday after he requested to return to his native homeland in Uganda following a six-month stint in which he made 14 appearances.

“Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with left-back Godfrey Walusimbi. The player has opted to go back home to Uganda.

“We would like to thank Godfrey for his contribution to Kaizer Chiefs and wish him all the best. #HailTheChief,” Chiefs posted on their social media platforms.

The Amokhosi still owe Gor KSh3 million in transfer fees and the K’Ogalo Deputy Secretary General Ronald Ngala has allayed fears they might not receive the balance.

“Kaizer Chiefs wrote to us last week indicating that they had processed the balance of the fee and will be wired into our account soonest,” Ngala told Citizen Digital.

Ngala was diplomatic when asked whether they could try and lure the defender back to Gor, saying it was reliant on whether the player wanted the move or the club had space for him.

Walusimi’s exit led Gor into resigning his Ugandan compatriot Shafique Batambuze and Geoffrey Ochieng to fill up the left back position meaning he is currently a surplus requirement.
