Gor set for Rayon trip on Saturday

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants  Gor Mahia FC will jet out of the country Saturday ahead of their first CAF Confederation Cup group stage match against  Ryon Sports of Rwanda.

Assistant secretary general Ronald Ngala says the team will fly aboard Kenya Airways and will depart at 0720hrs from JKIA.

The Kenyan champions who are just fresh from beating their traditional arch rivals AFC Leopards in a derby named Hull City challenge played at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, will seriously need a win in this match to jump start their quest for topping their group in the group stages of the African confederations Cup.

The kick off will be 1900hrs local time Sunday 6th. Ngala says unlike in the South African trip away to Supersports United where Ernest Wendo alongside other players were sidelined due to various reasons, only Karim Nzigyimana and Wellington Ochieng are unavailable for selection.

‘’It is upon the head coach to select his squad and we as the management and technical bench cannot interfere with his selection.’’ Said Ngala.

He admitted that the coach has a very difficult task choosing 18 players to make the travelling list saying most of the players have proved they deserve a slot . In an earlier interview with head Coach Dylan Kerr, he foresaw an overcrowded assignment in the month of May following the number of local league and international fixtures ahead for his boys, but says he is not worried since he has enough players for the assignments. The team to Rwanda will comprise of 18 players and 12 officials.

After the Ryon Sports assignment, Gor will be back home to play Hull City at Kasarani Stadium on the 13th of May before facing USM Algiers of Algeria 3 days on Nairobi in their Second match of the Confederations cup group stage.

The rest of their group stage matches will be played in August this year.
