Gor settles on Okaty as new head coach

Record Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have settled on Turkish Hassan Okaty as the head coach, Citizen Digital can reveal.

The 45-year old tactician is set to arrived in the country on Saturday night, and is expected to watch the KPL Super Cup clash between Gor and Kariobangi Sharks at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Sunday, December 2.

Reports indicate the UEFA A licensed coach has not been handed a formal contract, as he will be trying with the club for three months before everything is sealed.

However, it is not clear how the arrangement will materialise, with team starting the local league in a week’s time as the alongside an already commenced CAF Champions League.

Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has been at the helm since the departure of Dylan Kerr, who resigned just after the Liverpool tour, a fortnight ago.

Thus, Hassan is expected on the touchline by the time Gor faces Bandari in the 2018/2019 KPL season opener at the Mbaraki Sports Club on December 8.

Among his other notable arenas he has worked before are English Premier League (EPL) sides West Ham United and Watford albeit handling development teams.
