Gor Mahia FC strolled to a 3-0 win over Chemelil Sugar as they continued their grand march toward reclaiming the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Thursday.

The record national champions made light work of their opponents, racing into a 2-0 lead inside the opening half-hour as striker Jacques Tuyisenge notched a quick-fire double in the 22nd and 28th minutes.

The brace took the Rwandan international’s league tally to nine goals before midfielder Kenneth Muguna swept home Gor’s third to seal the victory that saw them pull nine points clear at the summit of the KPL log.

George Odhiambo’s threaded pass put Tuyisenge through to slot a composed finish past Chemelil goalkeeper Dairus Adira and get Dylan Kerr’s charges off the mark. Six minutes he struck again, turning in Meddie Kagere’s flick with a spectacular bicycle kick.

The 25-year-old’s involvement in the match came to a premature end four minutes after the restart as he hobbled off injured and replaced by pacey winger Francis Kahata.

Gor however showed no signs of slowing down as Muguna added the third and final for the afternoon to wrap their seventh win in eight matches.

The loss left Chemelil 13th on the table, six points away from relegation danger.
