Gor to go for three points in Kigali Muguna

Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna is optimistic of a good result as they jet out Wednesday for Kigali for the first leg preliminary tie of the CAF Champions League against hosts APR.

According to Muguna, KÓgalo are ready for the duel and are aiming for nothing short of maximum points.

‘’We are set for the match. We know they are champions in Rwanda and we are also champions in Kenya. We respect them but our target is to bag maximum points away,’’ said Muguna.

At the same time Muguna reckons that the new players have gelled with the older players in the team and expects a fierce fight in the Rwandan capital.

He also took time to praise his head coach Brazilian Roberto Olieviera who will however not sit on the bench following a CAF directive.

‘’The coach has ensured all players are in good shape and have bonded well and this will give us easy time in Kigali. It will be upon the coach to identify who takes to the pitch first since all players have demonstrated they deserve to be in the first eleven,” he explained.

Gor’s travelling party consists of 24 players, six technical bench members, one official, and head of delegation Judith Nyangi.

Citizen Digital has at the same learnt that all the newly recruited players are in the squad with the exception of Benson Omalla who is in Arusha featuring for Rising Stars in the CECAFA U20.

Other players who will not board the plane are former Masawa FC player Dickson Raila who is reportedly having passport issues and former Chemelil Sugar player John Ochieng who is reportedly Injured.

The team will be subject to the mandatory Covid19 tests upon arrival in Kigali.
