Gor upbeat ahead of clash with Atletico, Eritrean referees to take charge
Gor Mahia team manager Jolawi Obondo has said his players are in high spirits ahead of tonight’s clash with Petro Atletico of Angola in a CAF Confederations Group D clash in Luanda.
According to Obondo, Gor will be angling for an outright win despite missing two dependable players, Jacques Tuyisenge and Philemon Otieno, who are suspended after acquiring two back-to-back yellow cards in this competition.
‘”We are striving to go beyond where we reached last season and our players are determined. I can assure you this year we are going places,’’ Obondo told Citizen Digital on Wednesday, hours to the clash.
Earlier on assistant coach Zedekiah Otieno told Citizen Digital that the absence of Dennis Oliech will not injure the team much since he is still getting back to competitive football and cannot play 90 minutes.
‘’Zico, speaking prior to the team’s departure said they will use the available strikers in their goal hunt but was quick to admit that the services of their lead striker Jacques Tuyisenge, will be sorely missed.
The match kicks off at 7pm at Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda with Eritrean Tsegay Mogos Teklu set to take charge of the game.
He will be assisted by compatriots Berthe Tesfagiorghis and Suleiman Ali Salih as the first and second assistant referees respectively while Yonas Zekarias Ghebre will be the fourth official.
The Kenyan giants are facing a wounded side who were beaten 2-1 by Algeria’s NA Hussein Dey .
K’Ogalo arrived in Luanda Tuesday evening and had a feel of the pitch in readiness for the clash slated for 7pm today(Kenya time).
Gor Mahia top Group ‘D’ on a superior goal difference having trounced Egypt’s Zamalek 4-2 .
