Gor win join Leopards, Mathare in KPL under-20 semis

Gor Mahia left it late as they edged Muhoroni Youth 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Kenyan Premier League Under-20 championships played at Nairobi’s Camp Toyoyo Grounds on Tuesday.

Calvin Munyoki came off the bench to rescue Gor as he scored with only nine minutes left to play and ensure his side joined AFC Leopards and Mathare United for a place in the last four.

A dour first half characterized by sloppy play and missed chances saw both sides head into the break evenly matched but just when the match looked poised to end in a stalemate, Munyoki pounced on a defensive mistake to produce the moment that broke Muhoroni’s hearts.

In the earlier quarters fixtures, Mathare defeated Western Stima 2-1 to seal the first semis slot with the junior Ingwe starring in a 5-1 rout of Bandari FC.

The last semis slot will be contested between Kakamega Homeboyz and Sofapaka FC.
