Green Commandos hoping for April boost in NSL

Green Commandos head coach Brendan Mwinamo is hoping for a smooth run in April as his charges turn their attentions solely on the National Super League (NSL) with schools closed.

The Kakamega High School students have had to juggle between academics and league action for much of the opening campaign and have drifted into third last on the log as a result.

But with schools breaking for the Term One holidays, Mwinamo has rallied his charges to utilize the period by climbing out of danger as they bid to avoid a straight drop back to the third-tier.

The Green Commandos, who have lost five and drawn two of their opening eight fixtures, will play GFE 105 on Sunday at the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma County where they will be seeking only their second win of the season.

Only one NSL clash will be on the cards on Saturday as ninth-placed Ushuru FC travel to the Mbaraki Stadium to face Modern Coast Rangers who are two places above them on the 19-team log.

Leaders Western Stima FC who were relegated from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) last term have a tricky away trip to Nakuru All Stars while second-placed KCB FC tackle Administration Police at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds.
