Gruelling Lisa terrain test drivers skill in Machakos Rally

KCB Machakos Rally got off to a grueling start with Lisa and Kenjoro Competitive Stages handing crews a tough dry and dusty challenge.

In what turned out to be a tough first loop, some drivers including Eric Bengi and Piero Cannobio limped into Lisa service on three wheels.

Jasmeet Chana damaged the front left of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 following a mishap with 10km to spare on the long 57km section.

KCB Rally Voi winner Karan Patel, Baldev Chager and Carl “Flash” Tundo survived the high attrition two stage loop which is being repeated twice.

Karan picked up a puncture on the long 57km but savoured a trouble-free run on the Kenjoro stage.

The drivers tackle two stages at Kenjoro (16km) and Lisa Farm (57km).

The first loop of the rally saw Baldev Chager, Ian Duncan, Dilraj Chatthe, Hamza Anwar retired.

Duncan suffered a broken rear diff and was back in service soon after flag off.

Also out was Wayne Fernandes with mechanical gremlins.

Today’s event was flagged off by KCB Bank Regional Business Manager Central Region Kenneth Limo.

“As KCB, we are committed to seeing the growth of the KNRC

events in Kenya because Motorsports is such a big part of our

heritage, and we want it to thrive while cementing our commitment

for supporting these competitions.” Mr. Limo said.
