GSU, KPA advance to quarters in Tunisia

Kenya’s representatives at this year’s men African Clubs Championship General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) qualified to the quarter finals of the annual event which entered day three on Tuesday.

The Kenyans blew away their opponents in straight sets in their final respective preliminary matches to book slots for the championship quarter finals set for Friday in Tunisia’s capital Tunis.

GSU saw off Espoire of Congo in sets of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-12 to finish second in Group D on six points after two wins and one defeat. Five-time champions Zamalek topped the group on nine points after winning all the three matches.

Debutants KPA bounced back from Monday’s defeat to edge Burundi’s Rukinzo in sets of 25-23, 25-10 and 25-19 thus finishing second in Group ‘A’ on five points.

In the Friday’s quarter finals, GSU will face four-time champions Esperence of Tunisia who finished top in Pool A while KPA will be up against favourites Zamalek.
