Gun drama forces Kenyan ace Miheso out of Golden Arrows

Kenyan international winger Clifton Miheso was forced to take refuge at a South African Police Station after an alleged gun drama at his club Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows that he signed for only six months ago from local giants AFC Leopards.

Drama unfolded on Saturday morning when Miheso was summoned by club CEO, Gordon Masondo.

Miheso claims the CEO told him that his contract has been terminated by the club.

This would later be refuted by the club owner, Mato Madlala.

“Immediately I got the call, I called my coach who said he is surprised by the news because he was not involved in the alleged termination of the contract.

“When I refused to sign the termination until my manager arrives that’s when the gun drama happened,” Miheso who was exclusively speaking to Citizen Digital claimed.

Masondo allegedly threatened Miheso and the player demanded his dues and they part in good faith.

According to Miheso, the CEO allegedly stepped out of his office at the Moses Mabidha Stadium in Durban and all hell broke loose shortly after.

Two gunmen allegedly burst in and pointed their guns on Miheso, forcing him to sign a document he was not given time to read.

They took off with the document and Masondo together with another club official walked in.

They demanded the copy of his contract with the club that Miheso had in his possession but the player fled to the police station.

According to the player who spoke to Citizen Digital a few minutes ago, the police in Durban have been very helpful and finally he has formally with Golden Arrows.

The club owner Madlala was called in to the station and accompanied Miheso in the presence of the police to the club offices.

She agreed to pay Miheso his signing on fee plus two months’ salary to effectively terminate the contract.

“I’m safe now and very grateful to the police. They handled the matter very professionally and now I have all my dues paid. I’m going to Johannesburg tomorrow (Sunday) and hopefully catch a flight back home.”

“I would not like stay here one more day after what I have gone through. I was really scared. I have asked the police to take me to my room to pick my belongings. I will sleep at a hotel tonight then get the first flight out tomorrow,” he added.

Miheso began his career in the Kenyan Premier League, where he played for Thika United from 2011 to 2013, before joining Sofapaka and spending a further three seasons with the club.

FKF media officer Barry Otieno says they are following up to ensure that the player is safely back home.
