Hamisi Kassim elected new Kwale County football boss

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) South Coast branch youth representative Hamisi Kassim Mwakoja is the new Kwale County chairman.

Mwakoja trounced former South Coast branch vice chairman Salim Bambaulo after collecting five votes against Bambaulo’s two in a short election process held at Shicofa resource building in Kwale town.

Mwakoja said he was delighted with the confidence the clubs have placed on him and will use the chance to uplift Kwale soccer standards as well as talents.

“I want to thank the clubs who bestowed confidence in me to lead the beautiful game in our county. I promise to deliver,” said a delighted Mwakoja.

Hamisi Zamu swept the treasurer’s seat with five votes too against Juma Gatiwi who claimed two.

There was no competition in the other seats as Shilingi Fumbwe was picked as the the new secretary, Fatuma Mwinyi as women representative and Fadhili Kassim as the new youth representative.

The election was only held in 9 counties countrywide with Kwale being the only county of the six Coast region counties.

The aspirants in Mombasa, Kilifi and Taita Taveta were unopposed as Lamu and Tana River did not hols the election after failing to comply with the rules.

There were no running leagues for three years in the two counties which is against the election rules.
