Harambee Stars target perfect finish against DRC

Kenya’s Aboud Omar has revealed his teammates are in high spirits ahead of Saturday‘s friendly game with DRC Congo, set to played in Spain as they continue preps for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to the left back, Harambee Stars will be angling for revenge as they are also keen to make it back to back wins after edging out Madagascar in their first friendly match a week ago.

“We defeated them away from home in 2016 and they later came home where we beat them again(the 2-1 win on March 26, 2017, in Machakos). Saturday’s game will be no different though I am aware it will not be easy for us but also for them,” said Aboud after a training session in Paris.

Sebastian Migne has been dealt with a major blow after confirming Brian Mandela and Nkana Red Devils defender Musa Mohammed will be out through an injury picked in their 1-0 win over Madagascar.

Migne has also hinted he will be turning to the reserves during DR assignment; the French tactician insisting he cannot risk more key players.

“I think he(Musa) will be ready for AFCON but right now we cannot risk him. We take on DR Congo and we should have an eye on the competition by making sure all the players are fit. We have done it before, winning against Ghana without our key players. It gives you a headache as a coach on selection but we have to find a solution,’’ Migne told reporters in Paris.

As a result, several players will be in contention for a starting berth as their three-week training in France come to an end.

Stars lock horns with Algeria’s Desert Foxes on 23rd June at the 30th June Stadium in their opening match of the 2019 AFCON.
