Hard work behind Nondies fine start to Kenya Cup campaign- Were
Nondescripts team manager Kevin Were has attributed his team’s stormy start to this year’s Kenya Cup campaign to the hard work by players and their ability to execute instructions.
Nondies were at their flawless best at the weekend ending defending champions KCB’s 20-month unbeaten run with a 27-22 win at KCB grounds in Ruaraka.
This feat was preceded by a number gigantic win which came in the frame of a 20-14 victory over Enterprise Cup holders Menengai Cream Homeboyz.
According to Were, their main target this season is to reach the playoffs.
“Our main target is to reach the play offs, that’s why we’re taking one game at a time and we don’t want to brag … we have only played two matches.”
Nondescripts next assignment is against Menengai Oilers this weekend and Were believes his charges can only get better.
“We have prepared well and we’ll treat Oilers as any other team; as we did against KCB and Homeboyz, ”he said.
Were added that there have no major injuries in camp, noting that the few players who picked up knocks in their last match should be ready for the weekend game.
Nondies didn’t have any player in the Simbas World cup repechage squad with regular face Biko Adema out on lo ng term injury.
Nondies last won the Kenya Cup in 1998, and will be bidding to add another silverware to their trophy cabinet.
