Hassan vows to repay Kimanzi trust

Bandari FC sensational winger Abdallah Hassan is delighted to have earned a late call up to the national team Harambee Stars as they prepare to tackle Zambia in an international friendly on Friday.

Abdallah who shone during last year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge held in Uganda has been called up by head coach Francis Kimanzi to fill one of the slots left by the foreign-based players who won’t honour the fixture.

Skipper Victor Wanyama, Japan based striker Michael Olunga and play maker Johanna Omollo are some of the notable names who’ve been forced out of the fixture.

“I am very happy to earn this call and ready to serve my country in the friendly,”said Hassan.

Despite the Corona Virus pandemic, the former Bandari Youth player said that he was keeping fit through personal training together with a colleague and is confident of impressing the national tactician.

“I used to keep fit with a friend in Mombasa and hope to just add few things before the match,”he enthused.

Speaking after joining the residential camp in Nairobi, ‘Dula’ said he is ready to reciprocate his CECAFA form if given a chance in the Friday match.

In last year’s tourney, he scored four goals and helped Stars to a third place finish ahead of Tanzania.

“I proved myself in Uganda and if given a chance on Friday I want to continue where I left,” he explained.

Harambee Stars will entertain Chipolopolo this Friday at the Nyayo Stadium which will be the first football match for the team since March.

According to FKF boss Nick Mwendwa, the Zambians are expected to jet in on Thursday.
