The third edition of the annual Hayer One Tournament officially starts tomorrow following its launch in Nairobi today and will be played at various venues across the city, with the final scheduled for this Sunday at Nairobi Gymkhana.

The Uganda under-19 cricket team, who are the defending champions, will be out to defend their title, building on the success of 2018.
A total of 34 teams and some 450 young players have registered for entry in the Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories, in addition to the Under-19 in the boys and girls events.

Speaking during the launch, Elizabeth Njambi from HayerOne said she is impressed with the coaches and players who had decided to take part in the tourney saying it’s a great opportunity for Kenya to take cricket to another level.

“Hayer One is extremely proud of the young boys and girls who participate in sports activities, cricket being one of them. It takes courage, discipline, determination and passion to do what they do.

Star Field Sports, organisers of the youth cricket bonanza recently formed a strategic partnership with Gary Kirsten Cricket (GKC) of South Africa. The Hayer One Star Field Youth Cricket League 2019 will showcase their efforts, having hosted a High Performance Coaching Camp with GKC in April this year.

Star Field Sports Director, Karan Kaulsaid:“We expect the standard to be very high this year, especially after the successful High Performance Camp which attracted 105 children.”
