Hitman Kapaito open to a move away from Sharks

The 2018 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Golden Boot winner Erick Kapaito has said he will to listen any offers after starring for Kariobangi Sharks during the recently concluded season.

Kapaito reiterated he is open to negotiating an improved contract with Sharks but will also be happy to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere if that kind of opportunity comes his way.

The 27-year-old scored 16 times to top the 2018 KPL goal-scoring charts with his final day strike against Chemelil Sugar giving him the edge over Gor Mahia FC’s Jacques Tuyisenge who finished joint-second on 15.

“I’m surrounded by a team of professionals and they will help me in case something new arises. Personally I will welcome offers even from other clubs and from other leagues. I’m sure if a good offer knocks, Sharks will opens doors,” Kapaito said.

Kapaito joined Sharks at the beginning of the season from National Super League (NSL) side FC Talanta and hit the ground running in only first season in the top flight.

Sharks Chairman Robert Maoga said the club will not stand in the way of the player should a good offer be tabled.

“We are not in a hurry but we cannot shut doors because football is a business like any other. We are going to help him take his career to the next level,” Maoga said.

Kapaito’s crowning as the 2018 Golden Boot winner meant Sharks have produced back to back winners of the individual award after Masoud Juma claimed the honours in 2017 with 17 goals.
