Homeboyz coach Murunga appointed Shujaa boss

Homeboyz RFC boss Paul Murunga is the new head coach for the national rugby Sevens team, Shujaa, replacing Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu.

His appointment was announced by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) on Friday with Mwamba RFC head coach Kevin ‘Bling’ Wambua – who is also the Kenya Lionesses boss – set to serve as assistant coach.

Geoffrey Kimani was retained as the strength and conditioning coach while Lameck Bogonko also kept his post as the team physio.

Wambua guided Homeboyz to reclaiming the National Sevens Circuit this year thanks to victories in Prinsloo, Sepetuka, Kabeberi and in the final leg in Christie having also won the overall title in 2016.

He served as Benjamin Ayimba’s deputy during the 2015 and 2016 seasons when Shujaa made history by winning Kenya’s first ever World Rugby Series in Singapore.
