Homeboyz, Mean Machine for inaugural Maasai 7s

Kenya Cup sides, Homeboyz and Univeristy of Nairobi Mean Machines are among the eight teams that has thus far confirmed participation for this weekend’s inaugural Maasai 7s tournament to be held at the Champagne Park, Kipeto Village in Kajiando County.

Others in the main competition Bungoma RFC, Catholic Monks, Comras RFC, Webuye RFC, Kilunda RFC and Kajiado Combined according to organisers who launched the event in Nairobi on Wednesday.

“The Union and the organizers of tournaments are doing a good job by spreading tournaments across the country. It gives opportunity for young players in the rural areas. Maasai 7s will of course be another a stepping stone for the youngsters,” national sevens star, Biko Adema who is the tournament ambassador said at the function.

“Rugby has also become very competitive even in high school with more schools showcasing their skills.  There are a couple of sevens tournaments’ going on like the Kakamega 7s and the local circuit will start soon too. Many youth’s will be exposed to 7s and 15 aside and they will be able to learn how the stem works,” he added.

National school champions; Laiser Hill will also feature as they prepare to play against, Ngong Hills Academy and Comras as Maasai Warriors, Maasai Newcomers and Tusker Ndovu take part in the touch rugby category.
