Homeboyz seeded top at Nanyuki sevens

The inaugural Nanyuki Sevens that will be the fifth and penultimate leg of National Sevens Series kicks off this weekend, starting September 10 at the Nanyuki Sports Club in what could be the crowning moment for series leaders, Menengai Cream Homeboyz.

Homeboyz (82 points) opened up a nine point lead over second placed Kenya Harlequins after a 48-5 hammering of the Quins during last Sunday’s Dala Sevens in Kisumu.

The Homeboyz are the top seeded side coming into the tournament and have been grouped in Pool A alongside Top Fry Nakuru, Mean Machine and the host Nanyuki Jackals.

Finalists in the last weekend’s tournament, and second in the National standing, Quins will be looking to forget their upset in the Dala sevens where they were demolished 48-5 by Menengai in the finals.

They are grouped in Pool B with driftwood champions Mwamba, Nondescripts and Catholic Monks.

Kabras Sugar are in Pool C and play with the Kabeberi winners Impala Saracens, Black Blad and Resolution Kisii who were invited in this tournament after they were relegated in the Driftwood Sevens.

Kabeberi semifinalists Strathmore Leos will battle it out in Pool D with KCB, COMRAS and Western Bulls who have also been invited for the Nanyuki series.
