Hope at last as county allocates Sh80 million for renovation of Migori Stadium

There is hope at last for sports men and women in Migori as the county government has allocated Sh80 million to complete the stalled Migori County Stadium.

Migori county governor Okoth Obado said that the county budget will fund the completion of the stadium which has stalled for over three years.

Obado noted that the stadium has been in its worse state for several years adding that its poor state has undermined the sporting activities in the county.

The stadium which was allocated Sh40 million in 2014 stalled in the 2016, after the completion of the fencing and leveling of the field.

Early this year the county department of sports had planned to spend Sh400 million to construct a multi-purpose stadium at Lichota but this was however  ruled out by the governor.

Obado who was speaking during the inter-departmental tournament held at the stalled Migori Stadium said that his administration had decided to complete the construction of the facility.

Currently the entire county does not have any stadium of better standard, a situation which has forced many upcoming teams to hold their matches at Sony Green Stadium.

Speaking to our sister radio station Ramogi FM, County Director Sports Silas Jonyo said the department is planning to have a stadium in each sub county in a bid to improve sporting activities in the county.
