Hosts Embu RFC face favorites Samurai in 7s tournament

The Embu sevens rugby tournament kicked off Saturday July 1st with the guest team Samurai select having a difficult time than they expected at the moi stadium, Embu county.

Speaking to citizen digital samurai select head coach, former Kenya sevens ace Humphrey kayange said that his team gave good performance ahead of the main Cup quarterfinals where they face hosts Embu Rfc.

“In other pools we have seen Embu RFC play Nondies and Strathmore Leos playing very well, remember Embu RFC are the host and played very well so we are expecting a very interesting gametomorrow in the morning,” said Kahange.

He added that he is very aware of the teams they are going to meet in the quarters so they will just be playing around with the squad and see who will be fit to play.

Embu RFC captain Bobby Lewis said it was difficult navigating their pool where they won two and lost one against Kenyan cup side Nondescripts.

“We hope that our game tomorrow will be good and step up to qualify for the semis,” he said after the loss to Nondies.

“Playing Samurai will be a difficult task for Embu RFC but being the hosts it will just take everything to win the game,” he added.

“There has been some transition in this year’s tournament and I think where we are this time round is far better than the last edition,” Bobby concluded
