Hotel saga, monetary issues affected my players Kerr

Isaac Swila in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr was left seething in rage after his charges surrendered a 2-0 lead to settle for a 2-2 draw with Rayon Sports in their opening match of the Cecafa Kagame Cup here in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

So furious was the Briton that he skipped a post-match interview  at the press-centre instead delegating the task to his assistant Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno.

However, when Citizen Digital caught up with him, he let his guard down.

“I’m not happy at all. That is not Gor Mahia. My players are fatigued and there are a lot of off-pitch issues affecting them.

“They are worried of how they are going to get paid..”There is a lot of pressure on Francis Kahata because Simba are talking to my player and that may be affecting him. It affects other players as well because Francis is a good player  ,”he said, alluding to his discomfort with the shape of the transfers at the club.

He went on: “Technically I thought we played some good football though we were tired. The accommodation we stayed in wasn’t good.We got locked in the car park for 3 hrs because they wanted charges for the day we stayed. The players have got those things in their head…that wasn’t my team today but I like the energy and the effort.

On Kagere, he said:”Obviously, losing Meddie which was frank because he was out of contract. It was his choice to do that(join Simba). It affects the team.We now got have to go back to the  hotel to get the recovery and have a small training session tomorrow(Monday).

Kerr however said that his boys are left with no option but to beat Lydia Ludic of Burundi on Tuesday to enhance their qualification chances.
