How Harambee Stars could line up against Senegals Lions

Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne is set to yet again stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation as his boys chase history with a tough looking clash with Senegal, popularly known as the Lions of Teranga tonight.

The Stars, like their counterparts from West Africa are under massive pressure to win the game to automatically sail to the last 16.

Senegal have three points same as the Stars though the former have a better goal difference. A draw would also be enough for both teams to go through, Senegal in this case as group runners up and Kenya as one of the best four losers assuming that Algeria, group leaders on six points, dispatch winless Tanzania. But even if Tanzania beat the Desert Foxes they’ll need to do so by a cricket scoreline to lock out Kenya from a best loser slot as the Taifa Stars have already conceded five goals.

As things stand, Kenya are one of the best four losers across the pools at position four, behind Guinea(4 points), DR Congo(3) and South Africa(3) in that order but this could change depending on the outcome of today’s matches.

Meanwhile Migne got a major worry from last night’s training session after utility man Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma picked a muscle cramp sitting out of the last 20 minutes of training.

The French coach, going by his training last night, is likely to discard the 4-4-2 formation used in the second half in the 3-2 demolition of Tanzania and instead go for his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, with Dennis Odhiambo being recalled to partner Victor Wanyama at the heart of midfield, with Johanna Omollo operating as a Number 10 while Ovella Ochieng getting the nod assuming Marcello does not feature.

Probable Line up

Patrick Matsi, Bernard Ochieng, Abud Omar, Joseph Okumu, Musa Mohamed, Victor Wanyama, Dennis Odhiambo, Ovella Ochieng, Johanna Omollo, Ayub Timbe, Michael Olunga
