Hurting Leopards to unveil Serbian Nicola as new coach on Wednesday

AFC Leopards will on Wednesday unveil their new head coach Serbian Nicola Kavazovic at the club’s secretariat located in Vision Plaza, Mombasa Road, Nairobi.

Nicola arrived in the country on Sunday and has already signed a two- year contract with Leopards .He’s been tasked to snatch the league trophy from long term rivals Gor Mahia.

Secretary General Oscar Igaida expressed confidence that Nicola is the “Mr fix it” who will put a smile on Ingwe fans after decades of under-performance.

“He jetted in yesterday and has already penned a two-year contract with hopes that he will deliver the league trophy which has evaded us for close to twenty years,”Igaida said.

Kavazovic who has so far been accorded an apartment plus a vehicle to ease his movement in line of duty, guided Botswana powerhouse Township Rollers FC to clinch the domestic league after only a year of service.

“We have gone for a high leveled quality coach who will work with his assistant Michael Marcovic whom they have worked with since they were at Barcelona academy.

“He is a tactician who likes new challenges and that’s why he has agreed to be with us even after leaving Botswana with a league trophy.

“Wherever he goes he has been delivering trophies and the league trophy is what has been eluding us for all these years. We are confident he is the right man for the job,”Igaida added.

Firing Trend

The Dan Mule led executive has promised to give the Serbian a conducive environment through which to implement his football philosophy.

With the endless hiring and firing trend at the den being a worry to many a football fan, there are fears that the Serbian may after all not last the longevity of his contract a notion Igaida was quick to dispel.

Leopards are keen to sign an international goalkeeper before the end of the week plus other few more signings who will bring quality to the side.

“We have two international strikers we are in talks with and we want to make sure we complete the signings in time,”Igaida enthused.

Leopards have already sold Alex Orotomal to St Georges of Ethiopia and captain Duncan Otieno who has joined Nkana of Zambia and is keen to use the monies realized from their sales to buy quality players.

At the same time the club official has pleaded with fans to support the office as they labour to restore the club’s battered image.

“We are in the office till next year June but we are working hard; a lot has changed at the club.

“We have reduced the club’s debts, brought in stability and unity as well as formed a secretariat besides strengthening our youth team,” Igaida said.

Wrangles

Igaida has also warned those eying leadership position at the club to hold their horses until elections are called .His remarks comes just days after Mathews Opwora claimed he had e taken over the chairmanship position from the current chair Dan Mule .
