I have Leopards at heart but with no cash, count me out: Kayumba

AFC Leopards captain Soter Kayumba has distanced himself from reports that he has penned a two-year deal with Rwandese giants Rayon Sports despite having a running contract at the Kenyan giants.

The Rwandan who penned a two year contract with Leopards in the July after a successful short stint on loan from Sofapaka noted that he still has the club at heart and is hoping and praying that they land a sponsorship deal soonest.

His sentiments come shortly after it was alleged that he was unveiled by Rayon Sports after agreeing a two-year  deal with them.

“Rayon Sports Presda is my friend but that does not mean that I have talked with him on joining them yet I have a contract with Leopards.

Even if I talk with another team for a contract, Leopards must first of all release me before I go ahead to play for the new club,”he said.

The Rwandese last featured for Ingwe on November 10 in the 4-1  Mashemeji derby loss to arch rivals Gor Mahia, and has reiterated that Leopards’ hierarchy is aware of his decision as they work  to secure a sponsorship deal.

According to Kayumba, life has not been easy for him in Nairobi without money hence his decision to return to his homeland Rwanda.

“I cannot blame Leopards bosses for the sorry state the club is facing right now but as a player I am also a married man with a family that is depending on me and so we need to pay house rent, food and so forth.

“If they will not get a sponsor I cannot come back to Nairobi and so we will have to agree with the bosses so as I get a release letter to try elsewhere.

“However I am ready and willing to come back to in Nairobi and help Leopards provided all is well,”he charged.

Leopards are in position eight  with 17 points, eight behind leaders Gor Mahia and are scheduled to clash with fourth placed KCB this T at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru before travelling to Machakos to face hosts Tusker FC.
